ETEF designs, builds, rebuilds and modernizes electric and diesel-electric rail traction equipment: locomotives, DMU/EMU, electrification systems, diesel engines and parts for freight, passenger and light-rail operators in Mexico and abroad.
Who we are
ETEF, S.A. de C.V. is a Mexican company specialized in rail traction equipment. Our team's origins in the Mexican rail industry date back to 1916 — we're a third-generation rail family, and our staff carries a combined experience of over 300 years, trained in-house and shaped by retired Mexican national railway technicians who now mentor a new generation of engineers.
We work with both electric and diesel-electric traction equipment — locomotives, DMU/EMU units, catenary and third-rail systems — and we rebuild diesel engines and power components. We have exported self-designed and self-built DMU units, freight locomotives to Colombia and Chile, and rebuilt locomotives for Class 1 and short-line railroads in the United States and Canada, among the most demanding markets in the world for this work.
